Langley DAAC Version Number: LD_008_004_030_00_00_0_19990526 To all users of ERBE S-4G data obtained from the Langley DAAC: At the time that the data were converted to HDF, it was incorrectly assumed that region 1 was located at 90 degrees N latitude and 180 degrees W longitude rather than 90 degrees N latitude and 0 degrees longitude. Therefore software packages such as Collage and Spyglass will use this incorrect information from the HDF files for data retrieval. When the data are accessed by latitude and longitude, the incorrect regions are being retrieved (offset by 180 degrees). However accessing the data by region number will result in the proper location being retrieved. The sample read software provided by the Langley DAAC performs the conversion of longitudes to extract the correct region of interest.
