Input data are high-quality radiation fluxes from currently 35 BSRN sites at very high temporal resolution (mostly 1 minute, some of the measurement sites only provide observations every 2, 3 or 5 minutes). The observations are available through both a database and a file archive. For further information, please check the site http://bsrn.ethz.ch. The algorithm used for computing monthly-diurnal (15 minutes) climatologies from minute-values is as follows: (i) Data quality control and flagging of original radiation observation according to the quality check tests suggested by Ells Dutton and C. Long (for more details please check http://bsrn/ethz.ch -> data retrieval -> FTP file archive -> Quality tests). (ii) Monthly 15-minutes-means are then produced from the time series by dividing the data into 96 15-minute bins to define the mean diurnal cycle. Computation of a single bin requires at least 20% valid data. Data of poor quality have been marked as missing. (iii) 15-minute climatologies are computed from 15-minute monthly means of which at least three had to be present. 5) History of updates and changes. If you resubmit a new version of any part of this data product to GEWEX-RFA, please use this space to record the reasons for the new submission (i.e., fixed error in ___ parameter; changed to area-weighted spatial averaging, etc.) Please specify the parameter(s) affected, new RFA number(s), and the date of the change. 6) Please provide a list of publications and journal articles pertaining to these data (if any); or a link to a bibliography for the product.
