Criteria for air mass categories: Continental was based on Radon (>500 mBq/m3) and CN (>500 /cc) concentrations measured by the PMEL group. Continental times were corroborated with HR-ToF-AMS nitrate (>0.025 ug/m3) and ammonium (>0.05 ug/m3) concentrations as well as hydrocarbon ion ratios (C5H7/C5H11 ratio >2.2). HYSPLIT back trajectories were used to determine source of marine and continental air masses. Wind abaft the beam determined from PMEL meteorological data. Winds Abaft: Winds were from abaft the sampling inlet and possibly contaminated the sampled ambient air with ship plume. 4.
