CERES FM6 Edition1-CV Product Release

The Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) at NASA Langley Research Center in collaboration with the CERES Science Team announces the release of the first Joint Polar Satellite System 1 (JPSS-1) data sets: They are the following:
Temporal coverage for the JPSS-1 Edition1-CV BDS and ES8 data set is January 6, 2018 through current production; the JPSS-1 Edition1-CV ES4 and ES9 data set temporal coverage is from January 2018 through current production. Edition1-CV datasets are for instrument validation purposes only and not suited for science publications. On-ground calibration is used and the radiances have not been corrected using internal calibration sources yet.
The BDS data product is a Level-1B product that contains a 24-hour, single-satellite, single-instrument, geolocated TOA filtered radiances and other instrument data.
The ES-8 data product is a Level-2 product that contains a 24-hour, single-satellite, single-instrument, instantaneous view of scanner fluxes at the TOA reduced from spacecraft altitude unfiltered radiances using the ERBE scanner Inversion algorithms and the ERBE shortwave and longwave ADMs.
The ES-4 data product is a Level-3 product that are TOA fluxes using algorithms identical to those used by ERBE, averaged regionally (2.5-degree, 5-degree, and 10-degree grid), zonally (2.5-degree, 5-degree, and 10-degree) and globally.
The ES-9 data product is a Level-3 product that are TOA fluxes using algorithms identical to those used by ERBE, regional averages of instantaneous footprint TOA fluxes only for the hours of satellite overpass (from ES-8 Level 2 product).
The CERES FM6 instrument now has a Longwave channel instead of the Window channel that previous instruments had.
