Project: CERES

The Radiation Budget Science Project (RBSP)/CERES mission team announces the release of a new version of the CERES Level 2 (L2), CALIPSO-CloudSat-CERES-MODIS (CCCM or C3M) product. This new data product is a revised version of the publicly available B1 version of the CCCM product. The CCCM product files report CALIPSO-, CloudSat-, and MODIS-derived cloud profiles; CALIPSO- and MODIS-derived aerosol profiles; and CERES-derived, top-of-atmosphere observed radiative fluxes and computed radiative flux profiles. Cloud and aerosol profiles are derived using Version 4 CALIPSO, Version 2 MODIS Aqua Calibrated Radiance Wide Swath Subset and R05 CloudSat data products. The CERES-derived radiative flux algorithms used were similar to those that produced Edition 4 CERES products. Filenames take the following format:

CER_CCCM_Aqua-FM3-MODIS-CAL-CS_RelD1

Currently, the daily products are available beginning with data from July 1, 2006 through April 30, 2011. Additional data files for the time-period when CloudSat transitioned to daytime-only operation will be added eventually.
